Fortune Cookie and Sewing

Last night at dinner with friends my fortune cookie was so very true..."You are very busy but very happy."  Ha! Did not really need a fortune cookie to tell me that!
Here are some of my latest creations! Much more to come...sewing all week/weekend.

More of the monkey for a coworker's new niece.

This is a smaller size of the megaphone but you can't tell in the picture...so cute and little!

More of the football!

This cute shirt (but don't look close at the horrible stitching...the material was rather difficult to sew on) is for a coworker's little girl! Sweet baby boy arrived while I was in NYC, so I had to get busy when I got back!!
The little owl may be one of my favorites so far!

When I went to Alabama I made shirts for my cousins' kiddos. One of my cousins is taking her little girl to DW for the first time! She asked me to make shirts for her and...

two more for another family that is going with them!! So fun!! I really like how these turned out.

More creations that are my very very favorite so far...coming very soon....like next weekend. :)
Have a great week!!!

Southern Girl Meets the Big City

Sunday morning was the start of my big adventure with my first flight alone! I can probably count on 1 hand maybe 2 the amount of times I have flown and all of those times have been with family.
Dad told me to leave by 7:30 for an 11:50 flight...let's just say I got there with plenty of time to spare...3 hours to be exact. Unfortunately the airport is a little slow on Sunday mornings and my gate was on a really boring side...I ended up going on an owl hunt in the gift shops all over the airport with no luck. :( ha!
The flight was good and was a very exciting experience flying in and seeing the NYC skyline and the Statue of Liberty...I felt like a kid looking out the window, watching and taking it all in.
We landed about 30 minutes early and Laura and family were already there waiting for me! Once I got my bag we made our way to Hoboken, NJ for a little bit of cake!

With it being the weekend it was a little very busy! Buddy was not there nor were his sisters...maybe next time! I will have to go during the week to see them I guess!

A little picture before getting a number to wait in line.
Adelyn wore one of her many owl outfits for Auntie SaSa!

I love their boxes!

We got a cake and it was so very good...even by the end of the week. The icing was a little different but still very good. I also tried a lobster tail and mini cannoli and both were also very very good!

Monday night was my first experience in the city...wow...very different but very fun!
A. People walk really fast.
B. No one waits on the walking sign...they are like programmed to start walking before it even says "walk" and the sign changes once they start. (I know they are watching traffic and traffic lights, but it is still pretty funny to watch)
C. It is a really busy city...I think it would be fun just to sit and watch the madness.

We went to see MP and wow it was really good! It was definitely a Disney production.
We both bought autographed posters just for fun after Laura and Jason bought one at the last show they went to. They also had a tour for backstage for $150 and had it not been too late, I might have gone for it...you know to get the full experience of NYC and Broadway!

After our fun late night in NYC, we got to get up bright and early to go to baby dance class. I am not sure how we made it but am glad we did to see this little cutie try tap shoes for the first time. She liked running in them. :)

"tap shoes!"

Laura giving her a little help during class.

Seriously cute!
All three of us went back to the house and took about a 2 hour nap...wow! That is what vacations are for though...right?

Wednesday we had planned on going to the city but the weather kept changing, so we decided to wait and go in the afternoon so Jason could watch Adelyn...thanks Jason! We found out later that that morning was the Veteran's Day Parade...thank goodness we had not gone with Adelyn in the madness!

We did a lot of walking just to see the city. Missed a lot, so I definitely plan on going back soon to see more. For the amount of time we were there, we did get a lot done though! I lot of shopping. Ha!

We had been slacking on the picture taking over the week, so I tried to make up for it this day. I am not posting everything...you can thank me later.

We got cupcakes here...other than the cake being dry...oh my goodness...yummy! The icing was some of the best buttercream I have ever put in my mouth...yum!

American flags up for Veteran's Day...really neat to see.

Cute picture other than the fact that the wind would not stop blowing hair in my face and I am too lazy to try to photoshop it out! ha!

They were getting ready to put the tree up...I am just going to have to go back to see it. I am sure it is just magical! I think they cut it that day and were putting it up the next.
We thought about skating but then decided we didn't want to spend the night in the ER.

This picture was on my list of things to do...I am a nerd...I know!

On our way to meet Ginny we found this...wow! 3 floors of candy! So fun...I got a mini candy bin for my desk at work so people don't stick their dirty/flu germy hands in my bag of Jelly Beans.
Can't wait to put it on my desk!

We made it in plenty of time to meet Ginny for dinner, so I took more pictures...shocking!

Me with Ginny...who is still too funny!
After dinner we had dessert...no we didn't eat it all...seriously, why such large portions??

3 tries on this picture...we are both too picky!

Famous frozen hot chocolate! So very good!

After dinner and dessert it was time to say goodbye to Ginny and to the city. Laura and I decided to get a taxi since it was a long walk to the train station. That was another adventure but still fun, too. The next train was at about 9:47 and we did not expect to make it there in time...we got there around 9:46/9:47 and ran to our train with no time to spare. Laura was definitely better at running down the steps than me, but we still made it, and I did not fall down the steps...almost did but managed to avoid a big tumble. :)

We never took pics of my train ride experiences so we did the last night to show some of our purchases. We both got candy!

One of the dolls I had growing up is going in the Vault (the other one is already in the vault...so sad.) Anyway, I really did not have much for her because she was the last doll I got and was really too old at that point. I have always wanted her Christmas outfit (because I LOVE Christmas!). I got the dress and red boots (so cute) but they were out of the Christmas wreath as of that morning...tried ebay but they are going for $40+ for a wreath...no thank you. I don't need or want it that bad. That store was very fun and was also 3 levels...the Disney store is, too.

Thursday was spent relaxing and packing oh and playing with Adelyn, too! She is a fun and smart little 20 month old! We also did a little more shopping around town. I found some owl stuff Monday and Thursday! I did refrain from buying the owls in the city...not worth the money for stuffed owls at a toy store.

On Friday it was time to say good-bye to the city. :(

Thanks Lee family for a week of fun! It was great to see you all!!
Thanks Ginny for meeting us for dinner!
I had so much fun seeing you all!!!!
