Lunch Date!

Before I left on Friday, I had lunch with Laura, Jason, and baby Adelyn! It was so good to see them and catch up. Adelyn is too cute, so I had a mini photo session with my new camera. Here are some of my favorites from the day.

Probably my favorite.

A very vocal baby!

Beautiful eyes!

Getting Ready to Roll Tide!

This weekend is the first Alabama game and while it is not a home game, we are making the trip to Atlanta! I am packed and ready to go! Kick-off is Sat. at 7pm, but we are going early to see family which is just as exciting as football to me. We are staying with my granddaddy Friday night and then heading to my aunt and uncle's house on Saturday morning before going to Atlanta for the game. I can't wait to see my cousins and the sweet babies!
I am actually going to work at 6am tomorrow, so I can leave early. I will be sure to let you know how that goes...I hope I make it! I am also meeting a friend for lunch tomorrow which I am pretty excited about. Pictures are a must and will be added to the blog after the weekend. :) Hope everyone has a great Labor Day weekend!

Ruby

I took my camera with me to Memphis on Saturday to practice taking pictures with Ruby. I took over 100 and then after editing and deleting ended up with 102. Ruby was more difficult compared to Sally Fred who stays put, but I ended up with several good ones for Jason and Jessica! (and some good ones of Jason, too) Here are some of my favorites from the day.

Dad's Birthday Weekend

Getting ready to make a wish!

Wish time!

We made a stop at MBS while in Memphis on Saturday.

Dad enjoying his birthday cupcake!

Mom enjoying her cupcake!

We also made a stop to see Ruby so she could give dad some birthday kisses! We met Jason and Jessica at Chili's for dinner and then headed home with dad's new GPS leading the way.

Mouth Watering Goodness

Warning: This post could cause drooling. Please protect your keyboards and have a towel handy.

Two words: Strawberry Cake.
My aunt brought PD's strawberry cake to our family reunion this summer, and my dad has been wanting more ever since. We did not have the recipe nor is it on PD's website, but I was able to find it on the WWW. I made it Thursday afternoon as a surprise for his birthday. He was pretty excited! Here are some pictures of the process.

These are the ingredients for the cake before adding the strawberries that were still thawing.

Mixing the cake batter. I think this picture is pretty cool.

Already looks yummy and hasn't even baked yet!

While waiting on the cake to bake, icing making process begins.

Icing before adding the 7 cups of powdered sugar...yes, 7 cups.

Gradually mixing in the 7 cups of sugar.

Icing=yum.

Not quite ready but looking good.

Ready, but still too hot for icing.

Don't you just want to take a bite?

The fun birthday candles for the birthday boy.

The final product. Seriously, my mouth is watering just looking at this picture. Is yours?

Who Knew Bowling Could be so Much Fun?!

Wednesday night is dollar bowl night here in town, so this past Wednesday I met up with some coworkers who are practicing for an upcoming fundraiser at the Family Fun Center for a night of bowling. I don't remember the last time I went bowling...I was probably like 5 but maybe older. I have been with friends, but I never bowled. I think it is because I am highly competitive, and I didn't know how to bowl and did not want to lose...for the record, I still do not know how to bowl. While my form is awful and was probably made fun of all night(they said it looked like I was going to throw my arm with the ball), it turned out to be a lot of fun. I actually came in 3rd for two of the three rounds. I didn't look at the last game's scores because I knew I did bad...haha!
I have always loved bowling shoes...I don't know why. I guess they just seem fun!

My team...we won the first round and were still ahead for total points in the 2nd...that 3rd game was where we lost it all. I have to tell myself it is not about winning. hehe!

Perfect form. Maybe I should take lessons from the number 1 bowler of the night.

I've Been Tagged

Elizabeth tagged me, and so now I have to write 6 random things about myself and then tag 6 other people.
1. I am just random all together. I think it is because I think too fast.
2. I have cried during all the gymnastics medal ceremonies during the Olympics even when watching them for the 2nd and 3rd times.
3. I avoid left turns if possible unless I know I will have the green arrow.
4. I go back to bed after taking a shower in the morning.
5. One of my silly goals in life was to find a job where I could wear scrubs and tennis shoes...found one! :)
6. I feel the need to buy things with owls on them even if it is something I do not need...I guess you never know when you might need it down the road!

Ok, the six people I tag are Laura Jo, Amanda, Ginny, Jessica, LGBD, and Bethany.

Here are the rules.
1. Link to the person who tagged you
2. Post the rules to your blog
3. Write 6 random things about myself
4. Tag 6 people at the end of your post and link to them
5. Let each person you have tagged know by leaving a comment on their blog.
6. Let the tagger know when your entry is posted.

Go U.S.A.

The Olympics have been fun to watch once again! I have enjoyed watching my favorite, gymnastics, but have also enjoyed swimming and a few random others as I wait all night for them to replay gymnastics. I understand that when it is a live event, gymnastics will be on late, but when they are replaying it, why, why, why, does it have to come on after the men's gymnastics so very late and past my bedtime??? Also, scoring has been so inconsistent and if you have watched it, you know what I mean! So very frustrating, and I could go on and on about it...I will spare you all! Tonight is the beam finals, and because it has already happened, the results are posted on the top of my Internet home page...nice! It will be good, so get ready to watch it!!!

On a random note...I am in need of a cupcake from MBS in Memphis...ASAP!!

Meet Maggie

Getting tired of pictures like this?

Or pictures of this crazy for the camera kind of cat? Seriously, I think she loves the camera!
Thought so! Meet Maggie!

Maggie belongs to my mom's college roommate's daughter. She is keeping Maggie for a few days and stopped by on her way home. I could not resist taking a few pictures!

I think she loves the camera, too!
