Bake Sale

We are having another bake sale at work this week. Here are the cookies I made...originally 92 cookies  total...only 84 made it to the baskets at work...I promise they broke!
I love this sugar cookie recipe because the dough does not spread so the cookies keep their shape. It also helps that it tastes good, too.
The royal icing recipe I used is really a glaze but it is sooooooooo good!!! I also like decorating with it more than the other royal icing I have tried.

I used food color spray for the frogs which I now love!! I need more colors!

These are acutally tulip cookie cutters...not my idea but I love it!

A-Line Dress and Ruffle Pants

I finally made an a-line dress and ruffle pants after months of trying to just get the patterns to print. Laura asked me to make something with minnie mouse on it, and I decided Adelyn needed the dress not just a t-shirt. Once I got ready to make it, I decided it also needed to be reversable because...

...I just had to give her something with an owl on it for her birthday! Also, it is like 2 outfits in one!

I say this every time, but this may be my favorite owl! I love it!!!!

I had planned on making her ruffle pants at Christmas and had trouble printing the pattern...I was determined to get it to work this time, so she could have pants to go with the dress!! These were pretty easy to make, too!

I had to sneak an owl in somewhere on the pants...made a little tag from some owl fabric!

Now the dress is so far from perfect...it is too long (I did get to shorten it a bit this weekend...hopefully it will be the right length now), the Minnie hits her stomach, and the straps were not even. It was for sure a learning experience but has inspired me to make something I am so excited about!! Hopefully my next project will be a success!!! I just ordered fabric for it and bought the pattern yesterday!!!!

Laura did a great job with this party. Lots of little details and many months of planning to make this day very special for her special little girl. Now it is time to plan for the 3rd Birthday party!

Snow Days

*I am just a little behind on blogging*

Well, this winter brought lots and lots and lots of snow which means several snow days. The schools around here were closed a lot...we were closed 4 days...which is a lot for a clinic.

The first round of snow brought a lot and with ginormous snow flakes.

The day of the first snow was going to be the day I started seeing kids in a school to help cover for an OT who recently moved (we are short 2 OTs...any takers?), but the snow closed that school and left me at home on my first real day with round #2 of overtime.
I really don't mind one or two snow days randomly, so I was kind of excited to park myself on the couch with movies and the DVR. It does get old after a couple of days so close together.

I think it snowed all day long that day.

Early in the day snow on the table outside

Later in the day more snow on the table outside.

Sally was so bored inside all weekend that she let me put the remains of decorations from our mum sale last fall. I cannot believe she let me put that over her head. When she was a kitten we never could get her to wear a collar...she always managed to get it off while going crazy in the process.
We were closed 2 days for that snow...4 day weekend...not too bad.

Well, the following Monday we got this much snow and yes we closed for this. It looked like it was going to snow a lot again and had already snowed a lot West of here. Well, we did get more snow...at about 3 or 4 in the afternoon. This was also the day I went to work and then we closed. At least I had a good reason to be there as I had scheduled my health update for work that day.
Since we got more snow, we did close the next day as well which was day #4 in about 2 weeks.

Pretty blue bird...really was this blue with all of the white snow around him...

same with the pretty red bird

Sally decided she had had enough of being stuck inside and actually went out in the snow.

Cute birds

The Queen didn't last long outside with all of that snow.

There was another day we were almost closed but stayed open (thankfully!)...other than the fact that I almost fell on the driveway going to my car, getting out of my car on the side of the road to get more ice off my car, and walking between buildings to see kiddos...I think I had a total of 4 or 5 kids show up that day. While I did not fall, I was a little sore the next day...could have been much worse though!

So ready for Spring to be here! It has been a beautiful sunny weekend so far!!
