Photography

My interest in photography started when I was a kid. I always enjoyed looking at family pictures and pictures in books...it was something magical to me...how the picture forever captured a memory. When I was 6 my family went to Disney World with my grandparents. Some of their friends sent me and my brother one-time use cameras to use on our trip...I think from that point on, I not only enjoyed looking at pictures but capturing the memories for myself. I remember being mad when I couldn't take a picture I wanted to on that trip because my camera did not come with a flash!! I have been an avid scrapbooker since my high school days, too. The only thing I was missing was a really good camera. I just got a Canon PowerShot this winter for my birthday but wanted to purchase a better camera down the road. My granddaddy gave me graduation money, and I thought it only fitting to put that money towards a new camera because of his and my grandmother's love for capturing memories through film. My grandmother always had her camera with her, and for those of you who know me well, know I never leave home without it...I guess it runs in the family! I have been working a few months now and have saved up the remaining amount to purchase my first EOS (SLR) digital camera. This is something I have wanted since high school and am excited to learn how to use it. I may need a class or two to get the most out of this camera! I bought it after work yesterday and opened the box as soon as I got home. I have already taken over 100 pictures and am really excited about expanding this hobby! Here are some of my favorites so far!

Tomorrow is also TGIF! Even though I had Monday off, it has kind of been a long week and Friday cannot come soon enough!

No traveling this weekend (finally!), so it will be a quiet and restful one or so I hope!

Weekend Trips

Last weekend my parents and I headed to Arkansas for yet another wedding. This one was for a family friend that Jason and I grew up with. Somewhere there is a video of us being rock stars...don't you wish you could see that! I was on keyboard...not sure what Jason and Brock where doing. We stopped in Memphis on the way because mom had a test at the University of Memphis. Dad and I used that time to shop. I didn't have any luck with finding shoes for work, but it was fun to look (I am too picky about my tennis shoes). We also went to look at TVs and cameras, but didn't buy anything. I tried Pottery Barn Outlet again this trip but no luck there either. I made mention of getting some yummy cupcakes at Muddy's that Heather had mentioned on her blog, so we stopped there before picking up mom.

We got two red velvet with cream cheese icing, lemon with lemon icing, strawberry with strawberry icing, and chocolate with mint icing. Very good and very sweet, so we saved some for the next day! Lemon and mint chocolate were my favorites! I will definitely be making a stop there another time. Thanks for the suggestion Heather!

At some point during the trip my car reached 1,000 miles! I had to document the moment!!
On the way back, we made a stop in Germantown to see sweet Ruby (and Jason, too). We went to lunch and then explored Fresh Market...very fun. After that we ventured to the Mall...again, no luck with the shoes. I had to ask the girl to let me try on the left shoe, too. I figured the 2nd time she would know to give me the left shoe...nope, had to ask again. That made me mad, so I decided not to buy from them...I didn't care for either pair I tried on, so I probably would not have bought a pair anyway.

This weekend I headed to Franklin to visit with a couple of classmates! We missed S.C. who has to work in Hawaii...poor thing and B.P. who never checks her email! Don't worry B.P., Sept. will be here before we know it! It was nice to get away and visit with friends. Wish it could have lasted longer. I had planned on shopping since it was tax free weekend, but the crowds at the mall just about sent me over the edge...think Christmas but worse.

I have today off, so I hope to actually get my room cleaned and organized, but also enjoy the day...after I get my allergy shots. Sounds fun...I know!

Seemingly Impossible Task...

Cleaning my room! It has not been cleaned/organized since I moved home in May because it is too overwhelming to unpack an entire apartment into my bedroom at home. This is getting out of hand...nowhere to put stuff, and I am never home...not a good combination. Also, the storage building is pretty much full. Goal...to finish by this weekend...starting tonight!

Updates from a wedding weekend coming soon! This weekend...Nashville and Tax Free Shopping...a great combination!

Branching Out

I know this is going to come as a shock to many who know me too well, so brace yourselves please!! I promise I will no longer cry or walk out of my most favorite restaurant if they do not have my favorite soup, Chicken Tortilla. I have found another new favorite...the BLT minus the T and the mayo with a fruit cup.
I will admit that yes, I cried when they closed a few years ago and had to drive to Memphis to get it. I almost cried when I went all the way to Memphis to get the soup and they were out...who knew Memphis has about 10...I only new of 1 at the time. The one in Little Rock erased my soup just as a walked in the door driving from Jackson...they scraped the bowl for me and gave me a cup...I was and continue to be forever grateful to them.
While Chicken Tortilla Soup is my comfort food, I have a new favorite to enjoy! Thank goodness there is one here again...driving to Memphis or going out of the way on road trips was getting old!!
By the way, I like to eat at this place 2-3 times a week...I know I need help.
