From One Side of the State to the Other

Last weekend, I headed to West TN, and this weekend I ventured to East TN. I was able to leave work a little early to beat rush hour traffic in Nashville but did have a bit of a slow down on 440 because of a wreck. My dad's GPS got me through downtown Chattanooga to my destination with no problem! There were a few times over the weekend that I questioned the directions, but I made it everywhere I needed to go. I wish I had had a GPS when I first headed off to college and then while living in Nashville. Maybe I would not have had to tape directions to my steering wheel...yes, I did do that a few times..ok, many times!
I had a great visit with a friend all weekend. We did lots of shopping (I bought more owls!), eating, and laughing. We laughed and acted like total goofballs in public places. We also almost got towed while shopping downtown. A very eventful weekend for sure! It was such a nice weekend to get away and not worry about anything! I also spent Saturday morning/afternoon with my granddaddy and had a nice visit with him. We ventured into town and went to eat at one of my other favorite places...Panera! I was sick of eating there when I lived in Nashville, but I have come to miss it a little now! I wish I had had more time over the summer to get over there because it really wasn't a bad drive. I made it in a little under 4 hours both times...I did not make any stops along the way because I wanted to beat the estimated arrival time the GPS posted...I did both times! :) The drive was also even better since it was such a pretty weekend and the leaves are starting to change...Fall is here!
This weekend will not bring any road trips or adventures...finally! Maybe I will have time to finish unpacking/repacking things I don't need. Then the next weekend will be back to AL for football!

Another Fun-Filled Weekend

This weekend started out with dinner and a movie with some friends from work. It was a fun night, but the movie was not what I expected. I had not read the book, so I guess I was out of the loop on what the end would be like. It wasn't bad, but not one I would go see again!

Saturday morning I headed to Memphis to meet a sweet friend from Hot Springs! She was my 11th grade disciple now leader and someone I have always looked up to. It was great catching up with her and just talking about life. :) We did some shopping, too! I found some more owls...don't judge! She even helped me spot a few! It was a short visit, so I am looking forward to another time we can get together with more of the H.S. girls!
After the shopping fun, I headed to my brother and SIL's for the football game. My parents decided they needed to tag along and made the trip later in the day for the game. Turned out to be an amazing win by the Tide as they rolled over Georgia!! It wouldn't be a Memphis trip without going to Muddy's, so while Susan and I were out and about, I picked up 5 crimson cupcakes for the game! Yummy!

This morning dad made some of his yummy waffles for breakfast before heading back home. I stayed longer to visit with the bro and take him to McAlister's...because it is his favorite place to eat. :) Ok, so it is my favorite, but he enjoys it, too!
Another weekend is almost over, and it will be back to the real world bright and early in the morning, but I have something to look forward to next weekend as I will be on the road again!
Hope everyone has a great week!

Prayer at Work

I never thought that I would experience prayer at work. Many people choose to separate religion from their workplace and school in fear of offending someone these days. There are debates on the topic and groups that fight against prayer in schools and in public places in general. For me, prayer is something very important in my life. I have seen the power of prayer many times in my life...even the little things.
When I first started working, the organization I work for took time to pray for their new employees at orientation. I thought that was unusual but was very thankful that that was part of the orientation and that my first job started with prayer. Yesterday in a meeting a few names and families were mentioned who were in need of prayer. Today there was a dedication for a new building and not only was there prayer, we also sang hymns and read scripture...to me that is pretty cool...to work for an organization like this is such a blessing especially since it is my first experience in the real world. With the world the way it is today, this was all actually surprising to me. I did not ever expect to experience this at work. I know I am fortunate to work for an organization who places an importance on the one true Healer. It was a reminder today of why I do what I do and that I cannot do this job on my own. It also reminded me that this is where I am meant to be at this point in my life. I may not always have this type of work environment and feel like this is only preparing me for what may come in the future. I am truly blessed!
